Job summary

Department For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) in Ohio is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to work in our group homes supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role involves direct care to meet health and welfare needs, assisting with daily living activities, and coordinating transportation for residents.

The position includes evening/night shifts, with periodic medication assistance, and requires a high school diploma; CPR/First Aid

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour for shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM Sunday. Non‑work time will be paid at the base rate.

About the Role: The Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP) works in our group homes to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to help meet personal health, safety, and welfare needs of residents.
• Assist and/or supervise residents in personal care (bathing/toileting), cleaning, cooking, and life skills.
• Administer or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co‑workers and residents.
• Drive residents to and from day programs and community activities using agency vehicles.
• Document services provided daily.
• Assist with community‑based activities and recreation.

Requirements

• Valid non‑provisional driver’s license.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Shift Information

Full time. 40 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday 11pm-9am.

All offers of employment are contingent on successful background checks, DMV check, fingerprinting, pre‑employment physical, and drug test. All staff attend monthly staff meetings; waivers are available for conflicts due to secondary employment or school with documentation.
