The Department for Persons with Disabilities seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Oak Ridge, TN, to ensure the health and welfare of residents in a group home. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, medication administration, and community activities.

DSP Direct Support Professional - 40 Hrs

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD)

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Role Overview

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities.

Full Time-Shift: 40 hours per week, (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 3:00pm-11:00pm)

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance.
