Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor to support residents in group homes. You will provide direct care, assist with daily living activities, and help with documentation.

This part-time role includes weekend shifts and is grounded in compassionate, person-centered care. Requirements include a HS diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet CPR/First Aid and evacuation prerequisites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Help meet personal health, safety and welfare needs of residents.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs and community activities.
• Document services provided daily.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non‑work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities.

Job Requirements

• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent.

Part Time-Shift: 16 hours per week (Saturday 12:00pm - 8:00pm and Sunday 10:00am - 6:00pm)
