Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of MN in Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered care, build meaningful relationships, and support people as they pursue their hopes and goals. You will assist with daily living activities and help people stay engaged in their community.

The role welcomes applicants with or without prior experience, offers on-the-job training, and provides a team‑oriented environment focused on dignity, respect and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Genuine heart for helping others and passion for person-centered care.
• No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
• Comfort with basic computer use for documenting care.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships and provide guidance and support.
• Assist with daily living activities (personal care, meals, mobility).
• Support community involvement and independent living.
• Advocate for rights and preferences of individuals.
• Monitor health and report changes as needed.
• Complete documentation and participate in training.
• Support up to 4 residents in a residential group home.
• Work collaboratively within a mission-driven team.

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person‑centered care.

Pay:

• $16.00/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $16.50/hr!

Shifts:

• Awake Overnights

What You’ll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
• Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion
