Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is hiring a Direct Support Professional in Bloomington to help people with identified needs pursue their hopes through person-centered care. You’ll build meaningful relationships, provide daily living support, and encourage independence in a supportive team environment. Shifts are Fri/Sat/Sun 10 p.m.

to 8 a.m. with pay at $17.00 per hour, plus a potential raise to $17.50 after six months of consistent employment.

Qualifications

  • Caregiver-oriented role with a focus on person-centered care.
  • No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
  • Comfort using basic computer tools to document care and stay connected.

Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance and support.
  • Assist with daily living activities including personal care, meals, and transportation.
  • Support community involvement and independent living skills.
  • Advocate for rights, needs and preferences of people served.
  • Monitor health and well-being and report changes as needed.
  • Complete required documentation and participate in training and meetings.
  • Support up to 4 residents in a residential group home setting.

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person‑centered care.

Pay:

  • $17.00/hr!
  • Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50/hr!

Shifts:

  • Every FRI/SAT/SUN 10p-8a

What You’ll Do:

  • Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
  • Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
  • Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences
  • Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed
  • Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
  • Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
  • Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion
