Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with identified needs pursue their goals through person-centered care in a residential setting. You will build meaningful relationships, provide daily living support, and promote independence in a small team.

Shifts are 7 on/7 off, 10p-8a, with competitive pay starting at $17.00 per hour and a potential raise to $17.50 after six months of consistent employment.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record are needed.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships and provide guidance and support.
• Assist with daily living activities and transportation.
• Support community involvement and independent living skills.
• Advocate for rights, needs and preferences of individuals.
• Monitor health and report changes as needed.
• Complete documentation and participate in training and meetings.
• Support up to 4 people in residential group home.

Pay

• $17.00/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50/hr!

Shifts

What You’ll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
• Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion
