Job description

DSHS SCC Custodian 3-Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Custodian 3 to join our team. You will supervise a crew of resident workers and provide training in general custodial duties and heavy equipment operation for maintaining floors, carpets, and upholstery at the Special Commitment Center in Steilacoom, WA.

SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you will do:
  • Hire, schedule, and assign work of resident workers; train, orientate, and instruct in proper cleaning techniques and safety practices to ensure that department/facility cleanliness standards are met
  • Establish team performance standards, evaluate employee performance, and recommend corrective actions when necessary
  • Perform cleaning of office spaces, unit common areas, staff break rooms, and all other common use areas in the facility
  • Perform safety checks throughout the work area and report issues
  • Assist with coordinating unit moves and office moves
What we are looking for:
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs on a regular basis, as well as 45 lbs occasionally
  • Effective communication with team members and staff
  • Basic computer experience including email and internet
  • Use of professional judgment to carry out all assigned responsibilities
  • Knowledge of machinery and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to stand and move around for long periods to accomplish duties
Who should apply?
