Job description

The Dry Room Technician is responsible for the careful handling, drying, curing, and initial processing of harvested cannabis plant material in full compliance with Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations, company standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards. This role is critical to preserving product integrity, maintaining accurate METRC seed-to-sale tracking records, and ensuring that all post-harvest activities meet regulatory and consumer-quality benchmarks. The Dry Room Technician works closely with the cultivation and packaging teams to support a seamless, compliant post-harvest workflow.

Drying & Curing Operations
  • Hang and/or rack freshly harvested cannabis according to established SOPs for optimal airflow and even drying
  • Monitor and log dry room environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity, VPD) at prescribed intervals
  • Adjust environmental controls (HVAC, dehumidifiers, fans) to maintain target drying parameters
  • Track and document drying timelines for each batch, escalating deviations to the Post-Harvest Supervisor
  • Transition dried material into cure containers at appropriate moisture levels; burp and monitor cure cycle per SOP
Bucking & Trimming
  • Perform hand and/or machine bucking of dried cannabis stalks, separating flower from stems
  • Operate trim machines and/or conduct hand trimming to achieve finished-goods quality standards
  • Inspect trimmed flower for quality defects, foreign material, mold, and pests; quarantine and report non-conforming material
  • Maintain production output targets without compromising quality or compliance standards
Compliance & METRC Record-Keeping
  • Accurately record batch weights, waste, and transfers into the METRC seed-to-sale tracking system in a timely manner
  • Ensure all plant material, packages, and waste are properly tagged and tracked per Ohio Administrative Code 1301:18
  • Maintain complete and legible batch records, drying logs, and environmental monitoring documentation
  • Assist with internal audits and regulatory inspections by providing accurate records and ensuring dry room readiness
  • Report any compliance discrepancies, inventory variances, or SOP violations immediately to supervision
Sanitation & Facility Standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized dry room environment following all facility hygiene SOPs
  • Properly clean and sanitize trim equipment, racks, bins, and tools between batches
  • Dispose of cannabis waste in accordance with DCC regulations and internal waste management procedures
  • Report equipment malfunctions, environmental control failures, or safety hazards promptly
Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a cannabis post-harvest, agriculture, food production, or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with drying and curing processes, moisture monitoring, and environmental controls
  • Ability to pass all required background checks per Ohio DCC regulations
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain accurate written and electronic records
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, highly regulated production environment
