Job description

Drupal Designer and Developer

Location: Remote | Employment Type: Full-time

Annual base salary: $105,000–$135,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.

Dynamic Integrated Services (DIS) is seeking a Drupal Designer and Developer to join our Design and Digital Services team in support of federal clients, including a large public health research program. This role will translate approved website content and design changes into accessible, responsive, and engaging Drupal experiences.

The right candidate combines strong visual and user experience design skills with hands‑on Drupal development expertise. You will inform updates to information architecture and user journeys, create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for webpage updates, redesigns, and new website pages, create and adapt reusable components, use findings from ongoing analyses of user behavior to inform implementation, and work closely with customer web and technical teams to support successful implementation.

DIS is a proud Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, providing management consulting services to Federal agencies and organizations supporting the public sector. At DIS, we are team-oriented, continuous learners, creative thinkers, and kind people who value our colleagues and share a passion for serving our clients. If that sounds like you too, then we'd really like to meet you.

Essential Duties
  • Develop and implement approved website content and design changes for customer websites in a Drupal 10 environment, currently version 10.6.14.
  • Translate approved requirements into page layouts, wireframes, prototypes, and responsive designs, as needed, while maintaining client branding and design standards.
  • Create Drupal-compatible code, page components, templates, and supporting technical materials that are maintainable and compatible with the existing website architecture.
  • Select, configure, adapt, and arrange code and components from an existing component library; identify gaps and coordinate proposed additions with customer web and technical teams.
  • Apply findings from ongoing user behavior analyses and usability feedback (Google Analytics, Cision, and customer insight sessions) to improve page organization, navigation, content presentation, and interactions within the approved scope.
  • Coordinate with customer web, content, design, and technical teams throughout development and implementation to confirm requirements, resolve dependencies, and incorporate feedback.
  • Test content, components, and templates for functionality, responsive behavior, browser compatibility, and accessibility; document findings, troubleshoot issues, and verify corrections.
  • Prepare implementation handoff materials, including code, assets, configuration instructions, component documentation, dependencies, and test results, as applicable.
  • Respond to technical questions and make adjustments needed to support implementation, including troubleshooting issues identified during integration and acceptance testing.
  • Manage assigned work, communicate progress and risks, and deliver accurate, well-documented products within agreed schedules and review processes.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in web development, computer science, digital design, human-computer interaction, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional web design and development experience, including at least three years of hands‑on Drupal development and experience delivering production websites in Drupal 10.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Drupal theming and templating–experience with React or Twig will be helpful; working knowledge of PHP sufficient to develop, adapt, and troubleshoot Drupal code supporting the assigned work.
  • Hands‑on experience configuring Drupal content types, fields, Views, blocks, and reusable page components, and working within an established component library or design system.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design, typography, layout, visual hierarchy, navigation, and user-centered design; ability to turn approved concepts into usable pages.
  • Ability to create and communicate page designs and prototypes using Figma or a comparable design tool, and carry those designs through development.
  • Experience applying accessibility requirements to web design and development, including Section 508 and applicable WCAG criteria, and performing automated and manual accessibility checks.
  • Ability to interpret website analytics, user behavior findings, and usability feedback and translate them into practical design and implementation improvements.
  • Experience using Git, or a comparable version-control system, documenting changes, and preparing code and configuration for review and implementation by another technical team; experience with GitHub is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to test and troubleshoot Drupal pages and components, resolve integration issues, and clearly document implementation steps and technical decisions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and explain technical issues to nontechnical colleagues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to client service, quality, and meeting deadlines.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and obtain and maintain a favorable Federal Public Trust determination for the assigned contract.
