Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to lead complex drug, medical device, consumer product, and product liability matters from inception through resolution in the United States.

You will draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses; coordinate with eDiscovery vendors; work with expert witnesses; communicate with clients on status and strategy; and mentor associates as part of trial preparation and strategy development.

Overview

• Manage complex drug, medical device, consumer product, and/or product liability matters from inception through resolution, including developing and executing litigation strategies in collaboration with partners and clients.
• Draft substantive legal work such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and memoranda; prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, oral arguments, and mediations.
• Analyze scientific, medical, technical, and factual evidence to translate complex information into persuasive legal arguments, and manage discovery processes, including coordination with eDiscovery professionals and vendors.
• Work with expert witnesses and consultants on case development, reports, and testimony; communicate directly with clients regarding case status and strategy; and supervise, mentor, and delegate assignments to associates and other legal professionals.
• Contribute to trial preparation and, as appropriate, trial execution, with PA state court trial experience being preferred.
• Required experience includes toxic tort litigation, with a preference for managing asbestos or talc litigation, and handling complex scientific, medical, technical, or expert-driven issues. Experience with federal and/or state court litigation, including MDL experience, is a plus. A strong aptitude for emerging legal AI tools for document review, analysis, and eDiscovery is also required.
