Job summary

ITC Service Group, a wholly owned AFL subsidiary, is seeking motivated individuals to join its fiber splicing team. You will be trained to splice fiber optic cable and support underground and aerial installations for residential and commercial customers.

Key duties include operating trenching equipment, climbing up to 28-ft ladders, splicing on utility poles, lifting up to 100 lbs, and working flexible hours including weekends. A valid driver's license and background/drug screening are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in telecom is preferred but not required; training provided.
  • Ability to operate trenching equipment such as mini skid steer or walk-behind trencher.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

  • Splice fiber optic cable for residential and commercial clients (underground and aerial).
  • Run fiber drops for the client and service areas.
  • Work at heights on utility poles and handle up to 100 lb.
  • Operate trenching equipment and assist with site prep.

Job Overview:
ITC is looking for motivated individuals to join our fiber splicing team! Experience in the Telecom industry is preferred but not required. We will fully train you to splice fiber optic cable and earn a great income. This includes underground and aerial splicing, as well as running fiber drops for our client. We service both residential and commercial customers. Experience running trenching machines is a plus.

Company Provides:
Vehicle, Gas, Cell Phone, Tablet, Uniform re-imbursement

Compensation: Starting pay is $23.00/hr

Job Requirements:
Operate various trenching equipment such as a mini skid steer or walk beside trencher.
Capable of carrying, handling, and climbing 28-ft ladders
Ability to work at heights: Splicing fiber on utility poles and strands
Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and weekend and holiday work may be required.
Valid state drivers license and non-negligent driving record.
Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.
Ability to visually perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
Ability to complete on-the-job and/or classroom training in order to remain competitive in the telecommunications field.

Physical Demands:
Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms.
Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
