Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site and virtual customer training for UAS hardware, software, sensors, and workflows.
  • Conduct live flight demonstrations and provide technical expertise during customer meetings.
  • Support with proof-of-concept projects, data processing, and workflow optimization.
  • Provide advanced technical support throughout implementation and operation.

Position Summary

Frontier Precision is seeking a highly motivated Drone Applications & Technical Specialist to support our rapidly growing Unmanned Solutions division. This role serves as the technical bridge between our sales team and our customers, ensuring successful implementation, training, demonstrations, and ongoing customer success across a broad portfolio of drone platforms, sensors, software, and data workflows.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable flying drones in the field, training customers in a classroom, presenting at industry events, and working alongside sales representatives to solve complex customer challenges.

This is a travel-intensive position supporting customers throughout the United States.

Primary Responsibilities
Customer Training & Success
  • Deliver on-site and virtual customer training for UAS hardware, software, sensors, and workflows.
  • Develop customer proficiency through operational, regulatory, and application-specific instruction.
  • Support customer onboarding and ensure successful deployment of new systems.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers during customer meetings to provide technical expertise.
  • Conduct live flight demonstrations showcasing UAS platforms and integrated workflows.
  • Assist with proof-of-concept projects and customer evaluations.
  • Recommend appropriate hardware, software, and workflow solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Support proposal development with technical specifications and solution recommendations.
Professional Services
  • Perform commercial data capture missions utilizing UAS platforms and sensors.
  • Process, analyze, and deliver customer datasets using industry-standard software.
  • Assist customers with workflow optimization and best practices.
  • Support specialized consulting engagements as assigned.
Technical Expertise

Maintain expert-level knowledge of Frontier Precision's UAS portfolio including:

  • Drone platforms
  • LiDAR systems
  • Photogrammetry
  • Thermal imaging
  • Survey workflows
  • GIS integration
  • Reality capture solutions
  • Remain current on emerging UAS technologies and industry trends.
  • Evaluate new products and provide feedback to management and sales teams.
Events & Marketing Support
  • Trade shows
  • Fly Days
  • Industry conferences
  • Present technical sessions and product demonstrations.
  • Assist with development of technical content including videos, webinars, and training materials.
Customer Support
  • Provide advanced technical support for customers throughout implementation and operation.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and workflow issues.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Document recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
Regulatory & Flight Operations
  • Maintain proficiency with FAA Part 107 regulations and operational best practices.
  • Support customers with operational planning, compliance, and flight procedures.
  • Assist with waiver and authorization guidance when appropriate.
  • Operate safely while representing Frontier Precision in the field.
