Job summary

Velvet Ice Cream is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. The Driver Trainer will train, coach, and evaluate new and existing drivers to ensure safe driving practices, compliance with company policies, and adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.

Responsibilities include behind-the-wheel training, road tests, coaching on safety and fuel efficiency, maintaining training records, delivering ongoing safety meetings, and onboarding drivers, while

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related certifications are preferred.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Driver training or coaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behind-the-wheel training for new driver hires.
• Evaluate driver skills through road tests and ride-alongs; provide coaching to improve safety and performance.
• Coach drivers on safe driving techniques, defensive driving, fuel efficiency, and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
• Maintain training records and documentation; deliver safety meetings and onboarding.

The Driver Trainer is responsible for training, coaching, and evaluating new and existing drivers to ensure safe driving practices, compliance with company policies, and adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. This position plays a critical role in developing professional drivers, reducing preventable accidents, and promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
