Title of Position: Driver Trainer

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safest possible work environment through collaborative leadership within safety and operations departments.
- Administer driver training curriculum for new drivers and develop new training to address negative trends in driving performance.
- Monitor compliance with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Conduct task‑specific training, ride‑along coaching, and behind‑the‑wheel observations; provide real‑time coaching and document driver progress and follow‑up actions.
- Develop and conduct training including new hire, task, and post‑accident sessions.
- Act as a role model for safe driving habits, equipment care, vehicle cleanliness, communication, and adherence to company policies.
- Conduct employee one‑on‑ones and 30/60/90 day reviews.
- Propose solutions to eliminate safety risks identified during audits.
- Participate in onsite safety functions such as Toolbox talks and Driver Safety Meetings.
- Ensure contractor personnel follow company policy and procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and injuries with Site Managers and the Head of Safety to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Provide plant support for all federal, state, and local regulatory inspections (OSHA, MSHA, DOT).
- Monitor compliance with training programs for common processes or equipment.
- Conduct safety training programs on proper use of safety equipment (PPE, fall protection, respiratory protection).
- Provide reports, analysis, and feedback to the Head of Safety.
- Present weekly safety data and Smart Drive KPI summaries.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in Redi‑Mix Concrete, Cement, Aggregates or similar as a driver.
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus.
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL with current DOT medical card; maintain compliance with all DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs and training.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, consultative and facilitation skills with all levels of management and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Regular travel between locations and projects.
- Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines (self‑directed).
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Availability for weekend and night coverage occasionally.
- Ability to provide coverage for snowplow.
Physical Demands
- Use hands/fingers to type and move office objects.
- Sit for long periods of time.
- Hear sounds and recognize differences between them.
- See details of objects less than a few feet away and at far distances.
- See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
- Lift 20‑55 pounds on occasion.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or crawl on occasion.
