Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines in Fort Smith, AR, seeks a Driver Trainee to join the Driver Training Program while performing Freight Handler duties. The program requires 8 hours behind the wheel of a Company truck and 25 hours of yard training under observation and coaching.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, pre-trip inspections, proper documentation, and driving to destinations. Candidates must be 21+, pass background/MVR checks, and start CDL A endorsement prep (Hazmat/Tanker/Doubles).

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Able to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test with an acceptable MVR.
• Have at least 6 months of driving experience, to include a personal motor vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) with Hazmat Endorsement, Tanker Endorsement, and Doubles/Triples Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Driver Training Program while performing Freight Handler duties.
• Load and unload trailer, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete the Vehicle Condition Report (VCR).
• Drive to assigned destinations and ensure required shipping documents are present.
• Maintain records required by state and federal regulations including drivers’ logs and inspection records.
