Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is hiring a Driver Trainee in Birmingham, AL to participate in the Driver Training Program while performing Freight Handler duties. The program requires 8 hours behind the wheel and 25 hours of yard training under supervision.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading freight, inspecting vehicles, and maintaining compliance records. Candidates must be 21+, have a HS diploma or GED, and be willing to obtain CDL A with Hazmat/Tanker/Doubles endorsements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test with an acceptable MVR.
• Must have at least 6 months of driving experience, including a personal motor vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a valid CDL A with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers, with or without assistance from dock workers.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight.
• Inspect trucks for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips; submit a Vehicle Condition Report.
