Job summary

Southeast Freight Lines is offering a Driver Trainee program where associates train to become a Driver while performing Freight Handler duties. You will complete 8 hours behind the wheel and 25 hours of yard training, learning pre-trip inspections, use of controls, and backing.

Pay is $33.35–$34.50 per hour, with first shift work. The role requires at least 21 years old, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to pass background and drug testing.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass background check and alcohol/drug test with acceptable MVR.
• At least 6 months of driving experience, including a personal motor vehicle.
• Willing and able to obtain CDL A with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailer, with or without dock workers, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight.
• Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition and submit VCR at end of each trip.
• Ensure shipping docs (manifests, bills of lading, etc.) accompany shipments and are available for inspection.
• Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
