Job summary

Republic Services in Auburn, AL, is seeking a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a CDL and later assume a Driver position across our service lines. The program includes classroom study, on-route training and hands-on experience with the goal of earning a CDL and joining full-time operations.

The Trainee will complete twelve months of employment after obtaining a CDL and progress to a Driver role in Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off teams, with a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete twelve (12) months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck on designated routes and service each customer.
• Learn to operate controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of material.
• Learn to identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers.
• Monitor the vehicle condition to minimize downtime and keep it operational.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After obtaining a CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company’s lines of business.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
