Job summary

The South Carolina DMV seeks a License Examiner in the Low Country region, including North Charleston and surrounding counties. You will administer road tests for multiple vehicle classes and evaluate applicants’ fitness to drive.

Responsibilities include issuing licenses, inspecting documents, guiding customers, and handling fees. A high school diploma and SC driver license are required, with a background check and CDL training prerequisites.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and relevant experience.
• Must have a valid SC driver's license and be at least 21.
• Must complete a nationwide criminal background check.
• CDL test examiner trainer course prior to CDL test administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Administers road tests for multiple vehicle classes (A–F).
• Examines documents for licenses, permits, and registrations.
• Answers inquiries by phone and in person.
• Greets customers and directs them to services.
• Collects fees and reconciles daily reports.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
