Job summary

Golden State Logistics in California seeks a Driver Qualification & Onboarding Specialist to manage the qualification and onboarding process for new drivers. You will guide candidates from application through final qualification, ensuring all documentation, employment verification, safety requirements, and compliance standards are completed before they are approved to work.

The role collaborates with Recruiting, Safety, Operations, Payroll, and HR to maintain accurate Driver Qualification Files

Qualifications

• Experience with driver qualification, transportation safety, driver onboarding, or DOT compliance preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements.
• Experience reviewing MVRs and driver applications.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage multiple driver files simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Review and process driver applications.
• Determine whether driver candidates meet GSL hiring and qualification standards.
• Verify CDL status, driving history, employment history, and required documentation.
• Process Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) and other required driver background information.
• Review driver qualifications and identify potential disqualifying issues.
• Coordinate required drug and alcohol testing.
• Complete required employment and safety verifications.
• Maintain complete and accurate Driver Qualification Files.
• Ensure all required documents are received before approving a driver for onboarding.
• Coordinate orientation and onboarding for approved drivers.
• Work closely with Recruiting, Safety, Operations, Payroll, and Human Resources.
• Communicate with candidates regarding missing documents or outstanding requirements.
• Track drivers throughout the qualification process and provide status updates to management.
• Maintain confidential employee and driver records.
• Ensure driver files remain compliant with applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements and company policies.
• Assist with ongoing driver qualification and compliance documentation as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Comfortable communicating with drivers and requesting required documentation
• Able to identify incomplete information or potential qualification concerns before a driver is approved
• Transportation, trucking, or drayage experience highly preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

You are comfortable following up repeatedly when documentation is missing, maintaining organized files, and working closely with Recruiting and Safety to move qualified drivers through the process quickly without cutting corners.
