Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Production Assistant / Driver to operate a box truck and support our Adult Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City. You will handle pickups, deliveries, loading, route adherence, and safety inspections while complying with DOT and OSHA standards.

This full-time, non-exempt role offers weekend flexibility and competitive hourly pay with comprehensive benefits as part of a mission-driven nonprofit. Strong driving and safety focus is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of licensed driving experience preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean MVR.
• DOT-compliant license appropriate for operating a box truck.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a DOT-regulated box truck for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
• Represent The Salvation Army courteously to all donors.
• Load and unload donations while maintaining item integrity.
• Follow routes and schedules using dispatch tools.
• Maintain communication with dispatch, warehouse, and supervisors.
• Help program beneficiaries with work-therapy guidance and mentoring.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections for safety equipment.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and organizational standards.
