Job summary

United Road in Ellwood, IL seeks a Driver Manager to lead a fleet of company drivers and independent contractors, reporting to a Fleet Manager. You will manage performance, safety, and retention, and conduct regular reviews while coordinating with HR and Safety to ensure FMCSA compliance.

The role emphasizes payroll accuracy and proactive load planning support. The successful candidate will build strong relationships, guide drivers, and uphold company policies as part of a high‑performance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of two years of progressively responsible related work experience.
• Demonstrated passion for workforce development.
• Experience in trucking sector is a plus.
• Excellent time management, interpersonal relationships, and information handling.

Responsibilities

• Manages driver performance by setting expectations, conducting regular reviews, and implementing corrective action processes.
• Ensures safety and regulatory compliance for drivers and implements corrective actions.
• Resolves driver payroll discrepancies and authorizes additional pay when appropriate.
• Monitors driver utilization and collaborates with load planners to improve productivity.
• Instructs and mentors drivers on tools and systems (e.g., Pedigree, Magnus Driver App).
• Maintains driver schedules, time-off planning, and holiday pay compliance.
• Ensures adherence to company policies and core values.
