Job summary

Universal Health Services' Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support both inpatient and outpatient needs. You will help transport patients home when required and perform standard Mental Health Technician duties to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient behavior, assisting group activities, and delivering trauma-informed, age-appropriate care within a psychiatric setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensure: Class E Driver's License preferred or obtained within a designated time-frame upon hire.
• Experience: One year of experience driving a van type vehicle preferred. Six months prior experience in a mental health setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in driving and transporting patients home
• When not transporting patients, assume Mental Health Technician Responsibilities
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
• Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
• Assist with patient groups and activities
• Work with culturally and generationally diverse populations to meet their individual needs
• Provide trauma informed and age-specific care
• Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques
