Job summary

The State of New Hampshire is seeking a Driver Licensing Examiner in Newport, NH. The role administers written and driving skill examinations to determine license eligibility and ensures compliance with motor vehicle laws and procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting counter staff, reviewing applicant documentation, and maintaining testing facilities. Training and background checks are required, with travel to satellite offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
• Education and experience must be in instruction, training, customer service, driving work or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Administers driving skills examinations on applicant and on motorcycle to determine eligibility for driver license.
• Qualifies or disqualifies applicants based on driving skills examination results and records pertinent information.
• Ensures knowledge and vision examinations are completed prior to driving skills examination.
• Assists counter personnel with applicant questions and reviews documentation for accuracy and authenticity.
• Answers questions from the public at the counter and by phone about motor vehicle laws, licensing, forms and procedures.
• Provides support to clerks by operating DMV computer hardware/software and capturing signatures/images.
• Maintains office and inventory, reports facility issues as needed.
