Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety — Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Driver Exam Services in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Driver License Examiner 1. This full-time position involves administering driving tests, evaluating applicant skills, and using BMV systems for testing and records.

The role requires a valid Ohio Class D license and basic public relations experience. Work hours are Tue-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm and Sat 8:00 am-2:30 pm, with benefits including paid leave and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes calculating fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking English.
• 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in human/public relations, valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License;
• must be 21 years of age per Section 4507.05 (A) (2) (B).
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Conducts examination of applicants for vehicle operator's license by accompanying applicant in vehicle during road testing.
• Instructs applicant in maneuvers to be performed during testing.
• Administers driving tests to applicants for class D license, motorcycle license, moped license, restricted license & other exams as required by the BMV.
• Evaluates & grades applicant's ability to drive.
• Utilizes BMV computer systems to enter applicant information and to administer knowledge tests for various license classes & endorsements.
