North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeks qualified candidates for the Driver License Examiner position. Responsibilities include administering eligibility tests, evaluating applicants for Driver Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses, Learner's permits, and ID cards. You will handle high transaction volumes, utilize customer service skills to confirm applicant knowledge of NC Motor Vehicle laws, identify road signs, check vision, and observe driving skills during on-road tests in various weather conditions. You will also serve as a public advisor, identify health concerns, promote adjunct services, and ensure accurate data entry into internal systems.
This role is vital in reducing wait times and enhancing customer service at the DMV. Flexibility for travel and overnight stays may be required.
Related experience includes customer service with diverse groups, providing detailed information, interviewing, or working knowledge of DMV policies and procedures.
Applicants must demonstrate experience explaining policies/laws, providing excellent customer service, proficiency in basic computer software, and typing skills.
Additional preferred skills include cash handling, time management, and willingness to attend a 4-7 week certification training with overnight stays.
Applicants must possess a valid North Carolina Driver License with no suspensions or revocations in the past 10 years and no more than 5 active points. The position requires passing a background check under the REAL ID Act, including fingerprinting. A conditional offer will be made pending background check results, with costs for new employees.
