Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a CDL A Driver – Vehicle Porter to join our Shop Team. You will shuttle vehicles to and from customer sites and our maintenance shop, and pick up parts from local stores while ensuring excellent customer service.

The role requires CDL A driving experience, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and DOT regulatory compliance. You will work within a fast-paced fleet service environment and contribute to shop goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years’ related field experience; or 5 years’ related experience.
• 1–3 years CDL driving experience.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds and maneuver heavy equipment.
• Must pass DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Shuttle commercial vehicles between the shop and customers; be home evenings.
• Pickup and deliver parts from local stores to the maintenance shop.
• Provide excellent customer service beyond expectations.
• Support maintenance shop department goals and safety standards.
• Attend management meetings when requested; perform other duties as assigned.

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a CDL A Driver – Vehicle Porter to join our Shop Team to support the future growth of the Company.

Duties

• Shuttle commercial vehicles to be repaired or post repairs between our maintenance shop and our customers in the surrounding area - be home every evening.
• Pick up and deliver parts from local parts stores/distribution centers back to our maintenance shop.
• Provide excellent customer service by going above and beyond customers’ expectations.
• Contributes to achievement of Maintenance Shop department goals and objectives.
• Maintains a safe and compliant working environment.
• Attend management meetings when requested.
• Other duties as assigned to meet business requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• Between 1 and 3 years of CDL driving experience.
• The ability to lift to 75 pounds and maneuver heavy equipment.
• The ability to read/follow maps, routes, and GPS system.
• Experience in positions demonstrates the ability to provide exceptional customer service to external and internal contacts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
• Familiarity with the local geography.
• This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
• Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
• Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
