Job summary

Cox Fleet, a division of Cox Automotive, seeks a Driver I - CDL to shuttle vehicles, pick up parts, and serve customers with high service standards. The role is on-site at Cox locations and requires a valid Class A CDL and 1–3 years driving experience.

Eligible for an hourly base pay of $20.10–$30.10 with potential incentives. DOT compliance and safety are essential, and the position includes benefits and time off.

  • Attend to additional duties as needed to meet business requirements.

Cox Fleet is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Cox Fleet also services customers utilizing its 20+ nationwide service centers; each offering selects services, such as accident repair, paint, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair. Supported by a 24/7 in-house call center, Cox Fleet provides maintenance scheduled and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime. Cox Fleet is currently hiring a CDL A Driver – Vehicle Porter to join our Shop Team to support the future growth of the Company.

Duties
  • Shuttle commercial vehicles to be repaired or post repairs between our maintenance shop and our customers in the surrounding area - be home every evening.
  • Pick up and deliver parts from local parts stores/distribution centers back to our maintenance shop.
  • Provide excellent customer service by going above and beyond customers’ expectations.
  • Contributes to achievement of Maintenance Shop department goals and objectives.
  • Maintains a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Attend management meetings when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • A valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Between 1 and 3 years of CDL driving experience.
  • The ability to lift to 75 pounds and maneuver heavy equipment.
  • The ability to read/follow maps, routes, and GPS system.
  • Experience in positions demonstrates the ability to provide exceptional customer service to external and internal contacts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with the local geography.
  • This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
  • If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
  • Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
  • Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.

  • Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
