Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Driver Helper to support the timely and accurate delivery of airline food, beverages, and equipment. The Driver Helper will assist Drivers in loading and unloading carts, ensuring supplies are delivered to aircraft at designated locations and times. This role is essential to maintaining safe, secure, and efficient operations within an airline catering environment.

Essential Functions
  • Assist the Driver in safely parking the catering truck at the aircraft, following FFG SOP's and safety protocols established by FFG and the airline being serviced.
  • Assist the Driver in loading and unloading airline food, beverage, and equipment carts from aircraft and delivery trucks.
  • Load the catering truck with required supplies per flight schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support jetway service operations at the airport and delivery of staging areas.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with team members to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
  • Engage with Flight Crews and airline staff courteously and professionally during service delivery.
  • Adhere strictly to HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines for food safety and hygiene.
  • Follow company policies and dress code standards, always ensuring a clean and professional appearance.
  • Comply with all airport and TSA security protocols and procedures for facility and aircraft access.
Screening Requirements
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must complete a Port Authority Background Check.
  • Must be eligible and maintain Customs Seal and TSA (Transportation Security Administration) clearance.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • A Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive TSA and airport background check.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is located in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and moving equipment. Employees must follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.

Physical Demands
  • Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
  • Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery.
  • Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.
  • Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using small tools.
  • Climbing: Occasionally climb ladders or stairs to access equipment or elevated workstations.
  • Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.
  • Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.
  • PPE Use: Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, hairnets, earplugs, safety glasses, steel-toe boots) for the duration of the shift.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.
