Job Title: Driver Helper
Job Description

The Driver Helper supports the delivery driver in all aspects of product transportation from the warehouse to customer job sites, ensuring orders arrive accurately, safely, and efficiently while following established procedures and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the driver with the safe and efficient delivery of products to customer houses, buildings, and job sites.
  • Physically load trucks at the warehouse and unload materials at customer locations.
  • Verify that all client orders are delivered accurately to the correct address or jobsite location.
  • Use proper loading and unloading techniques to protect personal safety, safeguard coworkers, and prevent product damage.
  • Operate equipment such as ramps, load-locks, straps, and hand trucks correctly to ensure safety and minimize maintenance costs.
  • Serve as a professional and courteous representative to customers, providing excellent customer service during deliveries.
  • Assist the driver by spotting potential hazards while driving and offering clear directions as needed.
  • Organize and properly store equipment and supplies to keep the delivery truck neat and orderly.
  • Perform a pre-trip and post-trip checklist of the truck to confirm all safety equipment and supplies are present and in working order.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the truck cab and cargo area throughout the shift.
  • Support the driver in emergency situations, including setting up road flares or warning triangles when necessary.
  • Provide assistance to other operational areas as needed to support overall warehouse and delivery activities.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently throughout the shift, including materials up to 100 pounds.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Basic understanding of safe driving practices and ability to assist a driver with navigation and hazard spotting.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients at job sites.
  • Comfort working around box trucks and delivery vehicles.
  • Ability to work safely around forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Reliability and attention to detail to ensure accurate delivery of orders.

  • Experience in a warehouse production environment, especially with wood products, is beneficial.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a warehouse production environment for a manufacturer of doors and mouldings. You may be exposed to sawdust and other wood products and will regularly lift heavy materials such as large doors and bundles of mouldings, consistently throughout the shift, up to 100 pounds. Work is centered around loading and unloading trucks and handling building materials in an active, hands-on setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
