Job summary

Final Mile is seeking a Driver Manager to oversee a fleet of 30-35 company drivers in Illinois. You will lead day-to-day execution, drive performance, and ensure service, safety, utilization, and retention standards are met.

You will perform regular reviews and create corrective action plans to optimize outcomes. You will champion FMCSA compliance, mentor drivers in tool usage (Omnitracs, payroll), and partner with load planning to boost productivity.

Responsibilities

• Set expectations and conduct regular driver reviews; implement corrective actions up to termination.
• Ensure safety and regulatory performance of drivers; address underperformance.
• Resolve issues with assigned drivers and support retention.
• Ensure drivers are compliant with FMCSA rules such as hours of service and licensing.
• Train drivers on tools and systems (Omnitracs, payroll processes).
• Track driver schedules, time off, holidays, and vacations.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and authorize pay adjustments when needed.
• Manage driver utilization with load planners to improve productivity.
• Oversee driver execution of assigned work and adherence to policies.
• Promote trust and teamwork to support a high performance culture.
• Support load planning with re-planning and load recovery insights.
• Resolve driver issues and ensure proper handoffs by end of day.
• Monitor deliveries/pickups and alert planners to risks of service failure.
