Driver - Cylinder
Location: Newark, NJ

Our Driver - Cylinder Handlers are responsible for safely and efficiently operating a local route delivery vehicle to deliver hard goods, compressed gas cylinders, and associated products to customer locations. In this role, you must be willing to communicate and cooperate with customers, respond to their needs, and operate the delivery vehicle safely in compliance with company and DOT guidelines. Additionally, you will be responsible for filling, labeling, and preparing low-pressure packaged gas cylinders, as well as operating and maintaining the cryogenic liquid filling system. This role is physically demanding and requires attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.

What you will be doing: (1st Shift, CDL A and B)

• Provide high-standard customer service during delivery, including unloading products, moving them to the customer use point, and reloading empty cylinders.
• Driving accounts for approximately 30% of the day; the rest includes delivery, cylinder handling, shipping paperwork, customer contact, and vehicle inspections.
• Accurately count and record quantities and styles of products delivered and picked up.
• Complete hazardous material shipping paperwork in accordance with DOT/TC regulations.
• Placard vehicle according to hazardous material regulations and company standards.
• Conduct and report pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Identify vehicle repairs or maintenance needs and ensure timely service.
• Process medical and industrial gas cylinders following established guidelines.
• Perform visual, physical, and odor tests on cylinders before filling, and determine if retesting or repairs are needed.
• Check for cylinder quantities, styles, and products, and fill as necessary.
• Load and unload products from weekly shuttle trucks.
• Operate and maintain cylinder scales and related equipment.
• Prepare warehouse transfer orders and accompanying shipment paperwork, entering data into the system for inventory management.
• Maintain quality control documentation per company and governmental procedures.
• Operate forklifts and other plant vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What makes you great:

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
• At least 2 years of driving experience or completion of a truck driver training course with similar equipment
• No preventable accidents, license suspensions, or violations in the past 2 years
• No alcohol-related convictions within the last 10 years
• Current medical examiner's certificate or ability to pass a DOT physical
• Valid Class A or B CDL required
• Current Hazmat certification on CDL or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
• Preferred: 2+ years in a plant or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and write in English
• Must be 21 years or older
