Qualifications

Job description

Position: Driver - Cylinder
Location: Lancaster, PA

Our Driver - Cylinder Handlers are responsible for safely and efficiently operating a local route delivery vehicle to deliver hard goods, compressed gas cylinders, and related products to customer locations. The role involves communicating and cooperating with customers, responding to their needs, and safely operating delivery vehicles in compliance with company and DOT guidelines. Additionally, you will be responsible for filling, labeling, and preparing low-pressure packaged gas cylinders, as well as operating and maintaining the cryogenic liquid filling system. This physically demanding role requires attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.

What you will be doing: (1st Shift, CDL B)
  • Providing high-standard customer service during delivery, including unloading products and moving them to customer points, and reloading empty cylinders.
  • Driving approximately 30% of the day; the rest includes delivery, cylinder handling, paperwork, customer contact, and vehicle inspections.
  • Accurately recording quantities and styles of products delivered and picked up.
  • Completing hazardous material shipping paperwork per DOT/TC regulations.
  • Placing vehicle placards according to hazardous material regulations and company standards.
  • Conducting and reporting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Identifying vehicle repair or maintenance needs and ensuring timely completion.
  • Processing medical and industrial gas cylinders following plant guidelines.
  • Performing visual, physical, and odor tests on cylinders before filling, determining if retesting or repairs are needed.
  • Checking cylinder quantities, styles, and products, and filling as necessary.
  • Loading and unloading product from weekly shuttle trucks.
  • Operating and maintaining cylinder scales and related equipment.
  • Preparing warehouse transfer orders and paperwork for shipment, recording quantities, styles, and products filled.
  • Maintaining quality control documentation as per procedures.
  • Operating forklifts and other plant vehicles.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
  • At least 2 years of driving experience or completion of a truck driver training course.
  • No preventable accidents, license suspensions, or violations in the past 2 years.
  • No alcohol-related convictions in the last 10 years.
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate or ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL required.
  • Current Hazmat certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Preferred: 2+ years in a plant or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
