Job summary

The Salvation Army in Clearwater, FL is seeking a full-time custodian/janitorial worker to maintain facilities and grounds. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and involves daily cleaning, sanitizing, and basic maintenance tasks to keep premises safe and presentable.

You will work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement plans. A valid Florida driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years’ experience in general custodian/janitorial duties or general maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain multiple facilities and grounds to ensure neatness and cleanliness daily.
• Perform maintenance, janitorial, and housekeeping tasks; monitor work in progress for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Clean, sanitize bathrooms; replenish supplies and maintain break areas.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wax floors; sweep sidewalks and collect trash.
• Monitor lighting and replace bulbs as needed; clean windows and fixtures.

Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday; Variable; 7:00AM to 4:00PM

This position is responsible for:

• Cleans and maintains multiple Clearwater Command facilities and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis. Performs maintenance, janitorial, and/or housekeeping work; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains employee breakrooms, including tables, countertops, appliances, sinks, and floors, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
• Empties trash cans regularly; collects trash from grounds.
• Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
• Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to maintain driving ability according to State, DOT, and Salvation Army policies, procedures, and certifications.
• Ability to read and communicate the English language.
• Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
• Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
