Job summary

Werner Enterprises in Omaha, NE is seeking a Safety Specialist to ensure that safety and risk policies are documented, enforced, and resolved across drivers and operations.

You will review driver logs for hours-of-service compliance, investigate incidents, coordinate with adjusters, and support with hazardous material guidelines. Strong communication, DOT knowledge, and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and company policies.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Ability to operate a PC and office equipment.
• Experience with AS/400 and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with spreadsheet and database systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to drivers regarding hours of service compliance.
• Research driver requests to correct logs in the computer system and respond to drivers.
• Review MVRs to ensure DOT compliance and document issues.
• Maintain audit reports and determine disciplinary actions when needed.
• Monitor in-cab device issues and coordinate repairs.
• Answer calls about liability, workers’ compensation, and cargo issues.
• Document incidents and coaching actions.
• Conduct initial claim investigations for liability and workers’ compensation.
• Perform clerical duties and maintain files.
