Job description

About Us

Quest operates licensed residential behavioral health and substance use treatment programs across California. Our clients are in a vulnerable and pivotal stage of their lives, and every member of our team, including the person behind the wheel, plays a direct role in their care experience. If you drive safely, show up reliably, and treat people with dignity, this is a meaningful place to work.

Position Summary

The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and confidential transportation of clients to and from the facility, appointments, and community activities. This role also handles facility errands and day-to-day vehicle upkeep. The Driver is often a client's very first in-person contact with our program, so professionalism, discretion, and a calm presence are essential.

Key Responsibilities
Client Transportation
  • Transport clients to and from airports, bus and train stations, and residences at admission and discharge.
  • Provide transportation to medical, psychiatric, dental, laboratory, and court appointments.
  • Transport clients to off-site groups, community support meetings, and approved outings.
  • Transport clients between company facilities and levels of care as directed.
  • Follow the daily transportation schedule and coordinate changes with clinical, admissions, and operations staff.
Client Safety & Support
  • Verify client rosters before departure and confirm all clients are accounted for upon return.
  • Follow facility policy regarding contraband; ensure clients do not obtain or possess prohibited items during transport, and report any concerns immediately.
  • Observe client behavior during transport and report changes, safety concerns, or incidents to the appropriate staff.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
  • Respond appropriately to medical or behavioral emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
Vehicle Operations & Maintenance
  • Complete daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings.
  • Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and stocked with required supplies and documentation (insurance, registration, first aid kit).
  • Maintain accurate mileage, trip, and fuel logs.
  • Track scheduled maintenance and report mechanical issues, damage, or accidents immediately.
  • Operate all vehicles in compliance with California traffic laws and company policy at all times.
Facility Support
  • Run errands including pharmacy pickups, grocery and supply runs, lab drop-offs, mail, and document delivery.
  • Assist with luggage, supplies, and light facility tasks as needed.
  • Support the milieu and assist staff with client supervision during non-driving hours as assigned.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, including in public settings and during transport.
  • Complete transportation logs, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to all DHCS, licensing, accreditation, and company policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required trainings within assigned timeframes.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid California driver's license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of licensed driving experience; must be 21 or older to meet insurance requirements.
  • Clean driving record - a current DMV H-6 printout is required, and the candidate must be insurable under the company's auto policy.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screening.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable using GPS navigation, smartphone apps, and basic scheduling/communication tools.
  • Professional, non-judgmental demeanor and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
