Qualifications

  • Ability to pass extensive criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to complete First Aid and CPR certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to provide health and TB clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients from their homes in Mendocino and Lake Counties to New Life Clinic and back daily.
  • Ensure transportation is conducted safely and in compliance with all traffic laws.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety checks and maintain maintenance records.
  • Instruct passengers on safety precautions while being transported.
  • Maintain communication with patients and coworkers to improve service quality.
  • Provide comfort and support to patients and families; be punctual and respectful of schedules.

About the Role

New Life Health Authority in Ukiah, CA is looking for an outgoing and friendly person who loves to drive to be our Patient Transporter. Excellent customer service, hospitality and driving skills are critical as you will be providing patients with transportation from their homes to the New Life Clinic and back home on a daily basis. New Life Clinic treats a diverse population of patients, including Native and Non-Native people. We have the opportunity to provide whole person care, while managing patient substance use disorders, infectious disease, and mental health needs. We are looking for someone who demonstrates patience and compassion since our clinic often sees patients when they are feeling their worst. It is important that our staff believe in our patients so they can learn to believe in themselves. A non-judgmental approach is key. While a kind heart is a requirement, an organized mind is also needed for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transport patients from their places of residence in Mendocino and Lake Counties to New Life Clinic and back home on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that patient transportation is conducted with the utmost care and in full compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Complete daily safety checks of all vehicles and maintain operational records of maintenance and safety checks.
  • Instructs passengers in requisite safety precautions and practices while being transported.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity.
  • Respects and protects patient confidence and confidentiality.
  • Follows all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients and their possessions.
  • Reports all passenger behavior issues to management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 25 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent to diploma.
  • Must be extremely reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to complete BLS
  • Possess a valid California State Driver's license Class C and P endorsement and meet eligibility requirements for insurance coverage.
  • No DUI convictions within the last 15 years.
  • Provide proof of a clean driving record.Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Tribal affiliation a plus!
Applicants Must Have
  • Ability to pass extensive criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening, and provide proof of Covid vaccination.
  • Ability to complete First Aid and CPR certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to provide health and TB clearance.
Preferred Requirements
  • 1-2 years or more in medical/or non-medical transport, passenger transport, or relevant role preferred.

  • Complete transportation data tracking forms to log number of patients driven daily, daily no shows, and other grant related data tracking as needed.
  • Complete and document daily vehicle inspections.
  • Complete weekly, monthly, or quarterly vehicle cleaning and service visits for regular vehicle maintenance.
  • Work under the supervision of the Transportation Director and communicate any safety concerns in real time as well as any required incident reports.
  • Communicate any patient related concerns to the Transportation Director and Clinic Director.
