Job summary

Coastal Elite Pro is seeking a professional driver in Portland, ME to handle pick-up and delivery duties between service centers and customers. You will operate straight trucks, secure freight, and perform safety inspections while maintaining clear communication with dispatch and customers.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, handling hazardous materials per DOT, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1+ year of driving experience with similar vehicles or completion of a driver development program.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and sit for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks and forklifts/pallet jacks as needed.
• Ensure timely deliveries and provide excellent customer service.
• Secure freight using pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Perform daily safety and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Follow dispatch instructions and report delays or issues.
• Load/unload freight and assist with hazardous materials per DOT rules.
• Maintain vehicle and freight documentation and handle freight charges.
• Perform tire chaining and other duties as required.

Position Overview:

Responsible for pick-up and delivery between service centers and customers in a professional, safe, and timely manner. Tasks include operating straight trucks, securing freight, performing safety inspections, and communicating with dispatch. Must handle freight using manual and motorized equipment, complete documentation, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks and freight handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Ensure timely deliveries and provide excellent customer service, including soliciting new business.
• Secure freight with tools like pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Perform daily safety and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Follow dispatch instructions, report delays or issues, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Load, unload, and assist in freight handling, including hazardous materials following DOT regulations.
• Maintain vehicle and freight documentation, and handle freight charges.
• Perform tire chaining and other operational duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid Class B CDL with hazardous materials and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• At least one year of recent experience with similar vehicles or completion of a driver development course.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, sit for extended periods, and follow instructions.
• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Working Conditions:

Work outdoors and indoors, drive in various weather and road conditions, with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Physical abilities include bending, twisting, climbing in/out of trucks, and working independently or in teams.
