Job summary

Airgas, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Driver - Class A or B (Union) responsible for delivering gas cylinders, loading and unloading, and maintaining courteous customer relations.

The role is physically active, includes safety inspections, and a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional weekends. CDL A with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements and a clean driving record are required, along with 1 year of CDL experience or recent trucking school completion.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements.
• Hazmat endorsement required; candidates without current Hazmat will not be considered.
• Maintain driver's license, medical card, and endorsements.
• No more than two traffic convictions, or two at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, or at most one traffic conviction and one at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
• No driving under the influence within the last 7 years.
• Drug-free work environment.
• Regularly lift 75 lbs and move 125 lbs with equipment.
• 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 5 years, or proof of trucking school completion within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies.
• Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers.
• Support deliveries in a timely manner.
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders.
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart – physically active and hands-on.
• Frequent vehicle entry and exit.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: CDL A license holders make $32.46 per hour.
• Pay: CDL B license holders make $31.20 per hour.
• 40-45 hour work week, with minimal overtime.
• Monday-Friday schedule with occasional weekend.
• Referral bonus: $1,000.
• Support for parents: up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefit.

• Must be able to work in a drug‑free environment.
• Be able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with material handling equipment.
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 5 years, or provide proof of a certified trucking school completion within the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift experience.
