Job summary

Airgas, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse/Backup CDL B Driver in Theodore, AL to support loading, hauling, and delivering compressed gas cylinders to customers. The role offers a home-daily schedule, 6:30am start, and a balanced 40-hour work week with occasional weekend support.

Responsibilities include inspections, forklift operation, and safe handling of cylinders, with a focus on courteous customer interactions and timely deliveries. Full benefits and 401(k) are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with HazMat (or able to obtain within 60 days) and Airbrake endorsements.
• Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card and endorsements.
• No more than two traffic convictions or one at-fault accident in the last 3 years, or similar combined history.
• Able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move 125 lbs with equipment.
• At least 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or proof of trucking school completion in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Move materials using a forklift.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies.
• Deliver cylinders to local and regional customers in a timely manner.
• Safely secure and unstrap cylinders for transport.
• Interact professionally with customers on site.

The production operator will assist in moving industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and supporting the loading/unloading of cylinders from delivery trucks. As a representative of Airgas, the delivery driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers. Using a company-provided CDL B truck you will help bridge the gap between our plant and our valued customers. This position focuses on the loading, unloading, and delivery of cylinders while fostering positive interactions with Airgas customers. Airgas operates a modern and advanced fleet. Most vehicles are under 6 years old and equipped with driver-supportive technology such as On-Board Computers, collision avoidance technology, latest camera technology, and GPS navigation.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety
• Work with a forklift to move materials
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
• Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
• Ensure deliveries are made in a timely manner
• Safely secure and unstrap cylinders for transport
• Make deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; we emphasize that this is a physically active role that keeps you moving throughout the day.
• Drivers will frequently exit their vehicle as part of their active routine

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements
• Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift experience
• Ability to drive a manual transmission
