Job summary

Oak Farms Dairy is seeking a professional CDL driver to operate a commercial vehicle and deliver products per schedule, ensuring safety and accuracy. You will load/unload, document freight, and maintain vehicle condition while upholding DFA standards.

Responsibilities include accurate paperwork, route adherence, and representing the company positively in all customer interactions. Requires a Class A CDL and DFA/DOT compliance with a clean MVR.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required.
  • Must meet DOT and DFA requirements and have clean MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle per DOT and DFA rules and safety practices.
  • Deliver products on route schedule; place deliveries as required (e.g., inside coolers).
  • Report delays due to road conditions or incidents to management.
  • Load/unload per route requirements; may stock or order products.
  • Maintain positive customer relations and report issues to supervision.
  • Perform basic vehicle/equipment maintenance and keep a clean vehicle.
  • Complete daily paperwork, logs, and trip records per policy.
  • Document freight condition and conduct load inventory before departure.
  • Attend driver workshops and trainings; use company systems properly.
  • Represent DFA professionally in all customer interactions.

Job description

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
  • Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
  • Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
  • Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
  • Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
  • Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill in proficient computer usage
  • Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to contribute to the positive performance behaviors through personal example
  • Able to be proactive in seeking solutions and taking appropriate steps to solve problems
  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
  • Able to be punctual, follow directions, and meet deadlines
