Job summary

Swiss Premium Dairy, LLC is seeking a driver to operate a commercial vehicle, delivering dairy products along scheduled routes. The role requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, safe driving practices, and accurate logkeeping.

Successful candidates will have a Class A CDL with possible doubles endorsement, 2+ years of route delivery experience, and strong communication skills to coordinate with customers and supervisors. The position is on-site with varying travel within local routes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years experience driving tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles within last 5 years preferred.
• Must meet DFA/DOT requirements and have valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules and safety practices.
• Deliver products according to route schedule and customer expectations.
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns.
• Load/unload at designated stops as required and may stock/order products.
• Communicate effectively with customers and report issues to supervisor or manager.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment, perform pre-trip checks, and keep logs per policy.

Job description

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
• Use company supported applications or systems properly
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application

• Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
• Skill in proficient computer usage
• Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

REPORTING TO THIS POSITION

TRAVEL

• No travel required (that is, business travel outside of daily driving responsibilities)
• 5%-15% (1-3 times per year)
• 25%-50% (up to 1 week per month)
• 50%-75% (up to 2 weeks per month)
