Job summary

DFA Milk is seeking a professional to operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or doubles, delivering products to customers and warehouses on a scheduled route. You will maintain safety, document logs, and communicate with supervisors and customers to ensure timely, accurate deliveries.

Requirements include a valid Class A CDL, 2+ years of tractor-trailer experience, ability to read/write English, DOT knowledge, and a commitment to safe driving. Equal opportunity employer.

  • Valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required.
  • Must meet DOT and DFA MVR requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules.
  • Deliver on route schedule and meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Report delays due to road conditions or breakdowns.
  • Load/unload and inventory freight as needed.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment; keep logs and paperwork.
  • Communicate with customers and supervisor; attend workshops.
  • Represent DFA professionally at all times.

Job description

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
  • Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
  • Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
  • Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
  • Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
  • Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application

  • Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
