Job summary

Inotiv is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to safely transport research products from Frederick, MD to East Coast destinations. You will operate heavy-duty vehicles, load and unload cargo, and maintain logs while upholding animal welfare standards.

This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with 2–3 overnights, comprehensive benefits within 30 days, and a starting pay of $33.51 per hour. You will contribute to a mission-driven company that supports research and animal care.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 3 years of CDL driving experience (5 years preferred).
• Live animal transport experience preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A vehicles with GVW over 26,000 lbs.
• Pick up, verify, and deliver loads on time.
• Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently.
• Complete logs and transportation paperwork accurately.
• Inspect vehicle pre-trip and perform basic maintenance as needed.
• Follow DOT regulations, schedules, and rest periods.
• Navigate routes using maps and GPS.
• Provide courteous, professional service at all customer locations.
• Work collaboratively in team driving assignments.
• Handle and transport animals safely and humanely, including non-human primates.

Inotiv is seeking a professional and reliable Class A CDL Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will safely and efficiently transport research products while representing the company with professionalism, care, and a strong commitment to customer service and animal welfare. Home Base: Frederick, MD (routes across East Coast territory)

Schedule: Monday - Friday (includes 2-3 overnights + rotating routes)

Full-time position (40 hours guaranteed)

Starting Rate: $33.51/hour

Benefits: Full benefits available within 30 days of hire

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
• Pick up, verify, and deliver loads accurately and on time
• Load and unload a variety of cargo safely and efficiently
• Accurately complete required logs and transportation paperwork
• Inspect vehicle pre-trip and perform basic maintenance as needed
• Drive safely in all conditions, including heavy traffic and inclement weather
• Follow DOT regulations, schedules, and required rest periods
• Navigate routes using maps, GPS, and directions
• Provide courteous, professional service at all customer locations
• Work collaboratively in team driving assignments
• Handle and transport animals safely and humanely, including non-human primates
• Adhere to strict animal welfare standards and safe handling practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid CDL Class A License with a clean driving record
• Minimum 3 years of CDL driving experience (5 years Preferred) (Live animal transport experience preferred)
• Successful completion of a motor vehicle record check
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively in English
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs repeatedly
• Comfortable driving for extended periods
• Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
• Solid knowledge of roadways, traffic laws, and DOT regulations
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Must be comfortable working with animals of varying sizes

Additional Requirements

• May require compliance with ongoing tuberculosis (TB) screening and testing in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
