Job summary

Carlton Senior Living in Pleasant Hill, CA is seeking a Driver/Activities Assistant for Memory Care. The role involves transporting residents, assisting with entry/exit, and maintaining clean, safe vehicles.

You will support outings and activities designed to enhance mind, body, and spirit. The position requires a 21+ driver with a clean record, and you’ll join a team that values compassion, communication, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a California Driver’s License held for at least 5 years.
• Less than 3 moving violations or less than 2 accidents in the past 5 years.
• DOT drug test is required prior to employment; random quarterly tests apply afterward.
• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality with strong communication skills.
• Creativity and adaptability in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Must be computer and smartphone literate for communication, scheduling, and mapping.

Responsibilities

• Drive automobiles, mini-vans, and small buses to transport residents and visitors to outings, events, trips, errands, and appointments.
• Assist passengers entering and exiting vehicles, including help with walkers, canes, and belongings.
• Load and secure passenger wheelchairs in vehicles.
• Chaperone and assist residents to ensure safety and engagement during outings.
• Ensure community vehicles are clean and well maintained; monitor mechanical and cosmetic condition.
• Comply with traffic laws and maintain a safe, defensive driving approach.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and conducting activity programs for residents’ mental, physical, and social well-being.
• Support safety protocols, emergency plans, and elopement prevention practices.
• Foster a warm, collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 9AM-5PM

Pay Range: $19-$21

What You’ll Do:

• Drive automobiles, mini-vans, and small buses to transport residents and visitors to and from outings, events, trips, errands, and appointments.
• Assist passengers in entering and exiting vehicles, including assistance with walkers, canes, and personal belongings.

• Chaperone and assist residents to ensure safety and engagement while on outings and trips.
• Ensure community vehicles are clean and well maintained. Monitor mechanical and aesthetic condition of community vehicles.
• Comply with all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring a safe, cautious, and defensive driving approach at all times.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and conducting activity programs and events designed to enhance the mind, body, and soul of each of our residents
• Support safety protocols, emergency plans, and elopement prevention practices.
• Foster a warm, collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age and have maintained a California Driver’s License for a minimum of five (5) years.
• Must have less than three (3) moving violations or less than two (2) accidents within the past 5 years.
• Per the Department of Transportation, a negative Drug Test must be obtained prior to employment, and employee is subject to random quarterly drug tests thereafter. (obtained through community)
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent experience.
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality with strong communication skills.
• Creativity and adaptability in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Must be computer and smart phone literate for communication, scheduling, mapping, and outing research.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English, so as not to jeopardize the safety and well‑being of the residents.
