Job summary

NORTHGATE CARE CENTER in Iowa seeks a dedicated Driver to transport residents with mobility challenges safely and on time.

You will take work orders from a supervisor, assist clients in and out of vehicles, operate wheelchair lifts, and report incidents promptly. This role emphasizes patient dignity, QAPI compliance, and teamwork with care staff to ensure reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Arrive to work in a timely manner.
• Take work orders from supervisor for client trip.
• Drive clients to their destinations on time, including clients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
• Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle.
• Report back to the supervisor when clients have been dropped off at their destination.
• Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor.
• Operate wheelchair lifts as needed.
• Adhere to company policies and protocol.
• Maintain infection control and standard precaution practices.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the comfort, privacy and dignity of residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
• Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to the supervisor.
• Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
• Answers and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas.
• Reports all resident concerns to the appropriate department head.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
• Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
• Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
• Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
• Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
• Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
• Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan.
