Job summary

ColonialWebb is hiring a Driver for our Construction and Manufacturing teams in Virginia. You will safely operate commercial vehicles, secure cargo, and support warehouse and site deliveries while maintaining inventory and documentation accuracy.

You will work with the Logistics Supervisor or Construction Manager, following DOT rules and safety procedures, with available overtime and a full-time schedule. CDL-A required; strong communication and tech comfort are essential.

Qualifications

  • CDL-A license and class per role requirements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to load, secure, transport and unload materials.
  • Strong communication with customers and teammates.
  • Comfort with technology (scanners, mobile devices, MS Office).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles and specialized light construction equipment.
  • Secure cargo using chains, straps, covers, and tie-downs.
  • Load and unload materials, optimize space, and stage deliveries.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance and perform basic maintenance checks.
  • Follow safety rules, DOT regs, and customer procedures.

Our Drivers are an important part of keeping our projects and operations moving by safely transporting materials, operating commercial vehicles and specialized light construction equipment, and supporting our warehouse and jobsites.In this role, you’ll work alongside our teams to receive, inspect, store, locate, and deliver materials where they’re needed. You’ll also help us maintain an organized and efficient warehouse by keeping inventory and documentation accurate and making sure materials are ready for delivery to our jobsites.At ColonialWebb, safety comes first in everything we do . For more than 50 years, we’ve worked together to deliver quality solutions and exceptional service to our commercial customers while building a reputation as a trusted contractor in our industry.When you join ColonialWebb, you become part of a team that values safety, integrity, empathy, and urgency—and where everyone plays a role in our success.A day in the life:As part of our team, you’ll:Safely drive and operate various types of commercial vehicles and specialized light construction equipmentHelp us maintain a safe workplace by following company safety rules, regulations, procedures, and practicesMaintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance, including assigned trucks, tools, equipment, and customer propertyInspect vehicles and equipment to make sure they are safe and in proper working conditionFollow appropriate safety procedures when transporting cargoSecure cargo for transportation using appropriate equipment, including chains, straps, covers, and tie-downsSafely load and unload materials while maximizing space and efficiencyManeuver trucks into loading and unloading positions while working with loading crews to ensure vehicles and equipment are properly positionedPromptly report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the appropriate supervisorFollow department, jobsite, and customer protocols when delivering and picking up materialsObtain required receipts and signatures for delivered goodsReview load-related documentation for completeness and accuracyCompare freight bills and purchase orders against physical shipments and report damaged, missing, or incorrect materialsMake sure required paperwork accompanies deliveries for field installationHelp maintain vehicles and equipment in proper operating condition and perform basic preventive maintenanceConduct regular inspections to identify equipment that may require repair or maintenanceOrganize material storage to help keep our warehouse efficient and accessibleTag and log incoming materials and coordinate offloading with the appropriate teamsPlace materials in designated storage areas and accurately document their locationsMaintain accurate warehouse inventory and supporting documentationComplete required paperwork and reports for damaged or missing itemsMaintain vehicle inspection and maintenance logsPrepare materials for delivery and communicate shipment information to the appropriate team membersLook out for yourself and your teammates by working safely and encouraging safe work practicesSupport the team with other responsibilities as neededYou should have:We’re looking for someone who brings:A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A), with the appropriate class required for the role upon hireExperience safely operating commercial vehicles and construction equipmentKnowledge of OSHA safety regulations and DOT requirementsThe ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload materialsThe ability to organize and manage multiple responsibilities in a timely mannerStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and fellow team membersThe ability to work with a sense of urgency while remaining calm when unexpected situations ariseComfort using technology, including computers, barcode scanners, and mobile devicesProficiency with Microsoft Office and tool management softwareThe ability to work independently while also being an active member of the teamThe ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and environmentsThe ability to see well, either naturally or with correctionThe ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, fall protection, safety shoes, high-visibility vest, and other PPE as requiredThe ability to perform the physical requirements associated with material handling and delivery activitiesGood judgment when performing physical tasks. Heavy lifting above 80 lbs. requires pre-planning and the use of material lifting equipment or assistance from another team memberAvailability to work a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule.
