Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the South Bronx Job Corps Center in Bronx, NY. This full-time position focuses on keeping vehicles in good condition and transporting students and materials in compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience is required.
• General knowledge of vehicle maintenance is necessary.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate light trucks and passenger vehicles; transport passengers and/or packages; ensure adherence to established schedules.
• Maintain vehicles for routine service, keep vehicles clean, check fluid levels.
• Maintain required driver records and reports.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections daily, including lights, brakes, mirrors, steering; recommend repairs as needed.
• Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
• Participate in student employability programs and activities.
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Promote Career Success Standards by mentoring students and monitoring behavior.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for keeping vehicles in a clean and orderly condition and for operating vehicles for the purpose of transporting passengers and materials in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Operate light trucks and passenger vehicles; transport passengers and/or packages; ensure adherence to established schedules.
• Maintain vehicles for routine service, clean vehicles, check fluid levels.
• Maintain required driver records and reports
• Perform routine vehicle equipment inspection daily, including lights, brakes, mirrors, steering and other required operating equipment; recommend mechanical repairs as needed.
• Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
• Participate in student employability programs and activities.
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
