Careers In Government is seeking an Instrumentation & Low Voltage Technician for the City of Houston Public Works, working in the Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations group. Primary duties include troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade of instrumentation and low voltage systems at multiple sites.

The role requires an Associate's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of related experience, with licensing potential in Texas.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in a computer science, instrumentation, or electronics discipline or equivalent technical certification.
One year of experience in design, installation, operation and/or maintenance of a computerized data network or industrial control system.
Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, manage, and upgrade instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems.
Research and analyze causes of failures; repair, calibrate, replace, and install equipment to maximize functionality.
Perform preventive maintenance for safe, clean, and continuous operations.
Prepare and update records, logs, and reports.
Respond to emergency calls during and after hours for instrumentation and low voltage failures.
Document and monitor work assignments in a Work Management System.
Research technical product specifications.
Inspect field locations to determine correct placement of instrumentation components.
