Job summary

ConocoPhillips seeks a Drilling Optimization Engineer to join the Drilling Intelligence Group in Midland, TX. This on-site role focuses on real-time performance improvement across drilling operations and analytics.

You will partner with drilling engineers, geologists, and field teams to optimize rate of penetration, wellbore quality, and safety while leveraging data tools and cloud-based solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field related to drilling.
• 5+ years of drilling experience in operations or engineering roles.
• Willing to travel up to 20% annually.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve drilling performance and partner with teams to implement value.
• Serve as the Drilling Automation Champion for the organization.
• Use historical data to standardize best practices across teams.
• Analyze data and trends to improve ROP, slide efficiency, and wellbore quality.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and field crews to optimize development objectives.
• Evaluate new technologies and lead real-time/cloud-based improvements.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs to improve visibility and decisions.
• Partner with Global Wells to scale analytics tools across teams.
